Can I change a default port of L2TP?

Post by eqpred » Wed Jul 31, 2013 8:28 am

Hi, all.

I'm configuring a VPN server on a MacOSX Server with the SoftEtherVPN 4.0 software.

For a reason of network security, I'd like to change a default port for L2TP from 1701 to another number. Could you please advise me a method to change the default port of L2TP in the "SoftEtherVPN"?

(First of all, is it possible to change the default port for L2TP?)

Best regards,

Try to use another public port in port forwarding and see if it works. That means set the public port that you want and 1701 as local port.

Hi, kh_tsang.

Thank you for your suggestion. I'll try to configure port forwarding in my server.

Why is security through obscurity a bad idea?
