Softether VPN Optimization

I have done some tests with my own server using the client and also on an android device and i have concluded that over 80% of the connection speed are lost due to the vpn. I have tested the Shadowsocks proxy and it lost only 50% of the connection speed.
How did i come to these results?
I first take a speed test on all of the devices to one server (speedtest.net) and establish a baseline for the server and the clients, after that i run the speedtest connected via the vpn and after that the SS proxy. This way i have concluded the connection speed loss. I have played with some of the more logical settings on the servers and seems that nothing improves the speed.
If someone has more experience or knowledge about this topic please share!

tl;dr vpn BAD, proxy GOOD. Why nobody knows

SoftEther VPN emulates Ethernet.
This makes TCP over TCP network.
So SoftEther VPN is slower than proxy theoretically.

If there are multiple TCP connection on VPN, throughput may increase on environment with high delay.
