You both do not specify why a LT2P connection does not work ?

Of course you need to connect to a server which supports L2TP

Of course i connect to L2TP server

It work well if i connect from pc but cannot connect from android vpn

That is why i ask for softether vpn client on android play store

For example droidvpn on play store

But unfortunately i only have softether account

I hope softether provide us an android application vpn client

Trust us! L2TP works on Android! :)
Use this to tune your Adnroid http://www.softether.org/4-docs/2-howto ... ient_Setup
When you don't like the answer, change the question.
Cheers,

As an alternative you could try to use openvpn, for which a android client is available. But be warned, setting up openvnp is more complicated then L2TP.

I have not tried it with softether, but I did without it. It was a lots of fun messing with all those certificates. I am still amazed I did get it working.

both l2tp and openvpn work on android, provided that i connect to a server with public ip. yet, i was unable to connect android device to softether server located behind nat (i successfully connected my laptop to this server)

Of cause you have to open ports in you're router if you're server is behind nat, and also firewall. For l2tp this is well documented, for openvpn it depends.

what i meant was that i had successfully connected my laptop (softether client for windows x64) to softether server (linux x64) located behind nat without opening any ports.
i have no luck with android - not surprisingly, as bothi2tp and openvpn require publicly accessible ports.
i believe porting softether client to android would solve this issue

If you emulate OpenVPN in SoftEther you can use the OpenVPN Connect application from Play Store. All you need to do is export the configurations and move them to your phone.

Nice, but openvpn does not fulfill his requirement that the vpn connection should be able to travers NAT routing without any configuration. Which is an option the softether vpn client (in combination with the server) has.

I also am unable to use the L2TP function on a HTC One GE phone. I can run a hotspot and through the Softether VPN client and it works fine so I know the server is set up properly and the Username and password work as well as the data being transmitted over the carrier. The only thing that does not work for me is the Android default vpn software. This also is the same for my iPhone which is unable to connect. I can just create a simple pptp VPN through windows and that connects just fine.

Unfortunately, L2TP client isn't firewall-friendly 8-(

TCP 1701 and UDP 1701 ports destination on server.

I'm not exactly wrote, problem not in my personal firewalls, but in thousand's typical FW in hotels.
Many firewalls in hotels and airports permit only tcp/80 and tcp/443 ports, often with proxy.
Without proxy will work only OpenVPN tcp/443 and SSTP/443 (MS SSL VPN), with proxy - only SSTP/443.

I also have issues with Android and connecting. I have forward ports 500 and 4500 to my Softether VPN server and no luck. I also tried 1701 both UDP and TCP but that didnt help either (from what I have read it isnt necessary anyways). If I am in my wireless network at home and try to connect via the private address (192.168.x.x) it connects so I know the username/passwords and server is set correctly. But when I try to connect using either the WAN ip (which is dynamic) or the DDNS name it will not connect. Any other ports need to be forward?

Thanks

Hi willrsnds!

For L2TP/IPSEC you need make port forwarding: tcp: 1701, udp: 1701, 500, 4500.
All these together.

Thanks UkrZilla, but I do have those ports forward and still can't connect. Any other ideas?
