encryption algorithm name is "(null)"

Post by dant220 » Wed Nov 22, 2017 7:51 pm

Hi All;

I have noticed in the log that the encryption algorithm is sometimes NULL. I assume that means that there is no encryption.

For example:
2017-11-22 07:32:14.954 SSL communication for connection "CID-3373" has been started. The encryption algorithm name is "(null)".

2017-11-22 07:32:14.954 [HUB "xxx"] Session "SID-CUSTOMER3-[L2TP]-232": The parameter has been set. Max number of TCP connections: 1, Use of encryption: Yes, Use of compression: No, Use of Half duplex communication: No, Timeout: 20 seconds.

According to one line of the log there is no encryption algorithm but I also see "Use of encryption: Yes".

Am I misunderstanding the log? Or is there no encryption? If there is no encryption How can I ensure that there is always encryption?

What protocol did you use in the connection?
Could you show more the log?
