Dynamic DNS on VM Deployed Softether not working

Post by mosart » Thu Feb 08, 2018 6:54 pm

We have several deployed Windows Server 2016 VMs (ESXi) and they already have Softether pre-installed.

Dynamic DNS function does not work for us, maybe someone can shed some light.

Whenever we change one of the server's Dynamic DNS configuration (hostname), all other hosts (installed in different countries) will reflect the hostname change.
Sounds like the Softether installation has an internal ID registered with the Dynamic DNS server, and all of my server use the same ID.

I've tried to uninstall/reinstall softether, but no luck. The information is kept (and linked to other hosts).

Hope someone will be able to help.
Thank you!

Please read the hint in DDNS dialog.

This is the private key which is associated with your current DDNS name. If your VPN Server PC damaged and lost the key, the current DDNS name will be occupied forever and other VPN Server will not be able to use the same name.
If you want to continue to use the same name, keep the key on a safe place, such as an Internet storage, an another PC or a notepad.
When applying the key to the new VPN Server, edit the configuration file of the VPN Server to replace the key by the string in the value following to "byte Key" in the "declare DDnsClient" directive.
Do not use the duplicated key to two or more VPN Servers at the same time.
