I have successfully managed to setup a VPN server (in a house in another city) and connected to that server with a client (HTPC) in my apartment. Both are running W7. Pinging the server works. However, remote desktop or windows file sharing don't work.
I'm using the DHCP in SE as I don't want to access all the other computers on the servers LAN. I just want to access remote desktop and the media files on the server.
I tried creating a Microsoft loopback adapter and bride the VPN hub to that, and everything seems to work. However, I get just 2MBps when copying files.
Is it correct to use the loopback adapter to get access to files on my server, or should it be done some other way? I struggle to find or understand the guides when it comes to accessing stuff on the same machine as the VPN server is running on.
