VPN over ICMP with Amazon VM

Post by Gallifrey » Tue Jul 10, 2018 11:30 pm

Hello,

Has anyone been able to get VPN over ICMP working with VPN Server running on an Amazon Windows Server 2016 VM?

1. Amazon allows opening ICMP and I have All ICMP open. I'm able to ping the VM from the machine running the Softether Windows client. TCP and UDP are blocked.

2. On the Softether VPN Server under Encryption and Network Settings, VPN over ICMP / DNS Settings, Enable VPN over ICMP Server Function is checked.

As I understand SoftEther VPN Client (Ver 4.25, Build 9656, rtm) automatically tries ICMP if TCP and UDP fail, however the client fails to connect. If TCP and UDP ports are unblocked then the Softether client connects to the server fine.

Any other things to check to get VPN over ICMP working?

Thanks!

What error did you see?
Could you show the VPN server log?
