When I connect to Softether VPN my download speed decreases. Below are the results of Network Traffic Speed Test Tool

There is drastic change in download speed while upload speed is fine. Download speed is reduced to 10-15% of original speed. Please help.

Please check you are not routing all Internet traffic to your SoftEther VPN gateway. If you do that, all download will need to go via the SoftEther VPN gateway instead of directly from the download site.

You need to set up split tunneling if you want the full download speed for external sites. For Windows, make sure you untick the use Default gateway under your IPv4 settings.

It depends on a few factors such as the internet speed connection you have, the distance to the VPN and how many networks your network traverses. It also depends on how your VPN service providers servers are load balanced. SoftEther VPN introduces a layer of encryption and tunneling protocol that reduces net throughput unless you are streaming large blocks of data.
