Hello All,
I'm able to establish a VPN connection to remote server, but after connection is established i'm unable to ping/view computers in the client local LAN network. If i disconnect the VPN i'm able to view the intranet computers again. Please advise. Thanks.

you need to change interface metric into virtual adapter created by softether vpn client. I add link that can help you to change parameter. I change the default value 1 to 100 into virtual adapter.

Hello oscar.dc, thank you for your recommendation. I changed metric from 1 to 100, and this time i can see the local LAN PCs. However, i'm unable to access the VPN remote PCs. If i change metric back to 1 then i'm able to access the VPN remote PCs but not the local LAN PCs. Any suggestions?

Remote and local IP segment collide.
Try change IP segment either side.

Actually the remote IP segment and the local LAN IP segment are different e.g. 192.168.40.xx and 10.31.10.xx respectively. From the local LAN (VPN client) i'm able to surf the Web and all, but i cannot access the nodes in the network. If i want to access the PCs in the local LAN i have to disconnect from the VPN.

Re: Client local LAN connection drops after VPN connects
Just to update on this issue, i just noted that actually i can access the PCs in the same network my PC is when the VPN connection is established. What i cannot access is other computers that are in a different network segment when the VPN connection is on. To have access to PCs in a network segment other than mine i have to disconnect the VPN.

Please add persistent entry to other segments on your office to the routing table.
