Dynamic DNS using my own domain name

Post by elsaddiq » Sun Apr 09, 2017 8:59 am

Greetings:

During setup of SoftEther VPN, I'm prompted to enter a hostname (xxxx.softether.net) for the DDNS service. While I appreciate this feature, I have my own domain name and would like to use that instead. Is this possible? Thanks.

Sure you can use your own domain.

a) just create a cname record with your vpn.domain refer to the abcd.softether.net domain.

Thanks. Now I'm getting my router's administration page. Should I forward port 80 to the server? And is this safe? Thanks.

No, that's probably not safe. You should a) use a non-standard port and b) make sure it's a secure connection and c) forward that to your VPN server.
