IP doesn't change despite connecting successfully

Hello,
I'm using SoftEther VPN Client + VPN Gate Client Plugin on Windows 7. When I choose a server, I can connect perfectly fine, but my public IP doesn't actually change. I've tested this with multiple different servers and the whatismyipaddress.com/ site. There is no antivirus blocking the software, unless it's the original Windows' firewall doing it somehow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
