vpnserver reverts to old config

Post by markhorrocks » Thu Jul 16, 2015 4:38 pm

I have vpnserver setup on an ubuntu 14.04 AWS instance and it's using SecureNAT. AWS instances in our company are each on their own subnet and in different regions so local bridge is not practicable.

I can successfully connect using softhether client on Ubuntu and Windows and the inbuilt L2TP client on Mac OS X. I can ssh in and browse web pages for other machines on the DHCP subnet. I have IP forwarding set and postrouting set in iptables nat table.

My problem is that I find the vpnserver will sometimes suddenly revert to an old version of the config file. It has today done this from version 36 back to version 2. Additionally, Flush does not immediately rewrite vpn_server.config in /var/lib/softether/vpn_server.config. I have installed vpnserver from repo (4.08.9449-4~trusty).

The server has not been stopped or the instance rebooted.

Any suggestions appreciated.
