I want only the browser traffic to get routed through VPN

Post by shanghai » Wed Jul 24, 2013 5:52 pm

Hello,

Is there any way to do this? I don't want my Skype or torrent downloads go through the VPN as well, only my browsing. (I use Firefox)

Here's a work around: install VPN in a virtual machine and browse in it.

Although sloppy, you could find the bank of server ip's for Skype and then force a persistent route in the routing table so they always use the local NIC not the VPN.

See Route Add command.

In that case all you need is a proxy server rather than a full VPN. SSH does it for you. Created the secure tunnel and offers SOCKS Proxy forwarding. Set the broweser then to use localhost:port as its proxy server.

SSH using Bitwsie tunnelier is simplest to set up on windows server and client or use MyEntunnel.
