SoftEther VPN User Forum

After I installed SoftEther VPN and established a connection through SoftEther VPN Gate Public Relay Servers, My IP Address showed me in Japan rather than BC, Canada. I ran a DNS Leak Test https://dnsleaktest.com/, Standard test immediatly exposed my IP address, the Extended test immediately exposed my IP address 6 out of 6 times. This is neither a private, nor secure situation and if there is no setting fix for this then I will have to look into a different VPN as a solution.

VPN Gate is for protecting from censorship on the client side network.
It is not for anonymizing your IP address.

I don't think anyone will be heart broken if you use another VPN software, or better yet, a paid service... But FYI hiding dns is as easy as changing your DNS name server to google or cloudflare (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 or 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1). You also are going to want to disable WebRTC and Flash if your trying to hide or mask your online identity. Better look into some kind of VPN kill switch too. Either with a fire wall kill switch or with routing. Probably going to want to disable your IPv6 too. And use a separate user account, clear all cookies, or use VM in VMWare.

But all B.S. aside. I wouldn't trust connecting to VPN gate, or any VPN I didn't set up myself. I see bigger issues with VPN Gate than a DNS leak. I wont even think of using dynamic dns function in SoftEther, or UDP Acceleration, or SecureNAT on servers I set up myself. And I set up firewall rules to block SoftEther from calling home when No Adjustment to Routing Table is disabled on the client.
