High CPU usage when bridge hub and interface

Normally without the bridge, the server runs fine. No high CPU usages, or any other problems. However, I can't access any other devices on the network. So I created a bridge, but doing so caused some weird things to happen. CPU usages rise to on average 300% on a 24 CPU system, and then everything else on the server, including SSH becomes basically useless. Does anyone have any ideas?
