Installing softether on Macbook Pro

Hello! I am currently trying to install softether on my macbook pro. The issue is that I have downloaded the client but am unable to read the files therefore don't know how to begin. I also found out I had to set up a Mac OS X L2TP Client but it is asking for an account name, server address, password, and pre-shared key.
As you can tell, I really don't know much about computers but any help/step-by-step guide would be appreciated.
