Site to Site VPN with SoftEther and Cisco ASA

Post by vlMartin » Tue Feb 02, 2021 10:50 am

Hi,

I am working on a Site-to-Site Connection within the following scenario:

Site A: SoftEther VPN Server running on a Windows Server 2019 VM
Site B: Cisco ASA

I followed and read the related documentation:
The tunnel comes up just fine, so no issues with phase 1 and phase 2. This is confirmed by the Cisco ASA as well as the SoftEther server log.
During the tunnel preparation phase (first link above), one has to assign a user present on the virtual hub, "l2tpv3" in the documentation example.
Shouldn't I be able to see somewhere, that this user actually performed a logon at any given point in time? Because I am not able to find any information about this in the logs or in the GUI in the "Manage Sessions" tab.

Although I am able to establish the tunnel, I am not able to perform any kind of communication between both sites. And I am curious if this has something to do with the user assignment/behavior just mentioned.

I have tried to understand how I would be able to create that using a very simple bashscript friv
