Doc to configure softEther

Post by kokok552 » Fri Apr 30, 2021 2:58 pm

Hello everybody,
I am new on softEther and my problem may be a bit stupid. In fact, I would like to get a doc to configure this system to allow authentication via a DC.
I have already googled my issue without result.
Can anyone give me a link to get it ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,

You want to authenticate against Microsoft Active Directory?
I have not tried this myself, but here:
https://www.softether.org/4-docs/1-manu ... entication
"NT Domain Authentication Setting for Individual Users and for All Users"
Is documentation regarding this topic.

Thanks for your reply nobody12,
Of course, I need to authenticate against AD. I understand the concept but I don't know how to set it up.
So I'd like know which steps should I follow to configure it in this way.
Hoping everything is clearly explained.

I tried this just now, works as expected.
add a user,
specify a login name for the softether VPN (you may use the NT users name of course)
select NT domain authentication,
check "specify user name on authentication server": short name of user in AD
Now, at the client:
use the username specified by the softether server, but password which match the real NT users password.
when logging in to the VPN: check the box below user name+password: "radius or NT authentication".
connect.
worked

Effectively you are right : I can connect a client to the server now and I can get local IP Address.
Next problem : I cannot access any ressource in my LAN. Even my DC is not reachable (ping failed)
There are surely some steps I have missed.

Maybe the local bridge is missing, or, if you run the server in a VM the VM is unable to spoof MAC addresses?
connect to the managment ui, then on the lower left: "local bridge setting".
Is there a bridge, and is it connected to your hub?

I have checked : local bridge is not missing.
Anyway, I much appreciate your help but it is a bit late for me. I will take it again asap.
With the insurance to find your comment

Disable firewall or internet security software which maybe runs on the PC hosting the Softether server.
Or install Softether on a new installed windows Server OS using defaults.
No connectivity after a successful connection is most likely unrelated to the authentication method.

Hi,
I followed your suggestion by re-installing the server. Now, it is ok and I can access to my LAN.
Basically, I am happy to have achieved my first step. So, I'd like to be thankful to you.
I am experiencing the system now and I don't know if I need to do some improvement on it to get it fully helpful for my team.

Many thanks.
