Auth Type: Signed Certificate Authentication.

Hi guys
I can't understand Auth Type: Signed Certificate Authentication.
1.) In "Encryption and Network Settings" created new root self signed certificate.
2.) In my hub created new user with Auth Type: Signed Certificate Authentication.
What to do next? How it must work? Do I need create certificate for every users and where I can create?
Please somebody explain about how it works.
