SoftEther VPN client connection to OpenVPN server

Post by lmw » Sun May 05, 2019 5:10 pm

Hi all,

Is it possible to setup SoftEther VPN client to connect to an OpenVPN server which is listening on UDP 1194?
I cannot find the way to configure an UDP port when defining a new VPN connection on the client.

My client setup: Windows 10

Thanks in advance :)

Do not be surprised. I already passed all that you experience now. Read my posts.

Do not use OpenVPN it is useless, it is blocked by every router.

I use exlusively only softether with https port 443. No router can block this. Already tested 100000x times.

Where openvpn is blocked the softether still works!

Hi sky59,

Well, sure, we will move to SoftEther server too as soon as we can, but waiting for that to be done, we have still an OpenVPN server running.

So is it possible to setup a SoftEther VPN client to connect to an OpenVPN server?
That is my only question. ;)

Thanks and in advance for your help.

Hello LMW,

NO

The softether "Client" cannot be used to connect to an OpenVPN server. It is designed to connect a Softether "server" running the ethernet over SSL (HTTPS) protocol.

For OpenVPN you will need to use an OpenVPN client.

However, a Softether "Server" can function as a Softehter SSL-VPN (HTTPS) and 6 other major VPN protocols (OpenVPN, IPsec, L2TP, MS-SSTP, L2TPv3 and EtherIP)
