OpenVPN Mobile client not pingable from inside LAN

Post by ChAoS » Sun Aug 02, 2015 4:48 pm

Hello, as you can read in another post I use SoftEther VPN server also to connect my mobile Android device via OpenVPN.

With the genuine OpenVPN client I found out that DHCP and surfing is possible but I can not reach my connected Phone at its assigned IP address.

First I saw, when it was connected to my internal PBX via SIP that it was possible to make outbound calls but the android does not ring when a call is recieved. When I switch to the NCP client and connect to my hardware router then the phone ring on incoming SIP calls!!!

Also I can not ping the android at it's assinged IP from a PC on internal LAN.

I tried the same with L2TP with the android client but it is the same.

I connected a PC with the same openVPN profile but the PC was able to be pinged and also was able to recoieve calls with a small SIP software installed.

So I think it is not a general Protocol or softether failure. More it seems to be a failure with the VPN clients on the phone. But not a general phone problem because the NCP VPN client is doing the job correctly.

Perhaps anyone here has a suggestion ?!?

Thanks in advance

greetings, chaos

I think this is the problem from the client side. I tried pinging the android vpn client but the response is using the original mobile public IP as the source IP.

Have you try to use the OpenVPN L2 mode?
